About the Role

Alliance Services, Inc. is seeking a travel nurse RN for the DOU - Direct Observation Unit in Wausau, Wisconsin. This is a 13-week travel nursing assignment with night shifts.

Job Details

  • Start Date: 08/31/2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 48 guaranteed hours per week
  • Float to all inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU units
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Contract eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be taken in hour increments as needed
  • Unit may low census in 4-hour increments and could ask traveler to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $3216
  • $500 Contract Completion Bonus

Unit Information

This facility is home to a Short Stay/Intermediate Care unit that specializes in observation-level care for a wide range of medical conditions. The unit supports a high volume of admissions and discharges and provides care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring and drip management. The 8-bed observation unit treats conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre and post-op urology and GI, and cardiac drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin). Average patient stay is up to 48 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide observation-level care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions
  • Read and interpret cardiac strips
  • Manage cardiac drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
  • Handle high volume of admissions and discharges
  • Collaborate with team and ancillary staff
  • Work independently and manage tasks timely
  • Maintain flexibility during constant shift changes

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience required
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Associate Degree or Certificate required
  • WI RN License
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • NIHSS highly preferred
  • EKG exam required during compliance
  • Any color scrubs permitted
