• Number of Beds: 30
• Patient Ratio: 5-6 : 1
• Unit staffing description:
  • Unit clerk on days
  • 2-3 PCT’s day & night
  • Nursing Supervisor
  • Hospitalists
• Type of equipment:
  • Welch Allyn vitals neuron
  • Novameter glucose
  • Philips Telemetry and MP2’s
• Documentation system: Meditech-HCA version
• Medications: WOW with med drawers, Pyxis ES dispensing system
• Scheduling requirements: equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts/4-week schedule)
• Floating policy: other M/S areas: general MS, Ortho, PCU (Progressive Care Unit), M/S surgical w oncology. We rotate unless skill mix is needed.
• Patient Experience requirements:
  • Bedside Rounding
  • Hourly Rounding with 5P’s checked
  • Reporting to PCT’s of known needs at beginning and during shifts
  • Check glass board for dept focus areas
  • Scrolling video kiosk available as well as email for update references

Certifications & Experience

• Required: BLS/ACLS/NIH
• Must have: 2+ years recent PCU experience in a hospital setting
• Advanced skills needed: Knowledge of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
• Procedures performed on unit:
  • Chest Tube management
  • Wound vac management
  • EKG’s ad lib
• Certifications Required: ACLS
