About the role

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) is needed for a facility located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The position involves providing care to medical and surgical patients in a 20-bed unit with a Level 1 Trauma designation. This role offers an opportunity to work in a teaching hospital with access to advanced technology and a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to transitional care unit patients, medical patients with CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, wounds, as well as some general surgeries and other service lines
• Perform tasks such as Trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Manage non-titrating drips such as Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix
• Adhere to a patient ratio of 1:5
• May float within scope of practice at the hospital

Requirements

• Valid nursing license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications
• At least 2 years of MedSurg nursing experience
• Location in North Carolina

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and non-titrating drips such as Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix

Schedule

• Nights; 12-hour shifts
• Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Two shifts of new employee orientation on the unit

Support & Technology

• One CNA for each unit section, charge nurse to cover both areas, bedside monitors with central monitor
• 24/7 hospitalist, residents, RTs, and Phlebotomy staff
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Omnicell
