Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (MS) on a unit located in Peoria, Illinois. This position involves providing high-quality care to general medical patients in a fast-paced acute care setting. The role requires strong teamwork and communication skills and is suited for candidates with at least one year of recent medical-surgical experience.

Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour days, with a schedule starting on 08/17/2026.
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated;
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association) certification;
  • At least 1 year of recent experience in general medical units;
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills;
  • Must submit last four digits of SSN, requested time off, and understand the drug-free campus policy requiring negative drug screens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with telemetry monitoring;
  • Knowledge of Phillips monitors;
  • Able to read strips.

Department

Medical Acute Care Unit with 20 beds, patient ratios of approximately 1:4/5 during the day, and 1:5/6 on night shifts, including nurse aides and patient care technicians supporting staffing.

Duties

Provide patient care in a general medical setting, collaborate with the healthcare team, and adhere to hospital protocols and SOPs. Float: Travel RNs are prioritized for floating and will rotate with others as needed. Dress Code: No specific scrub color preference; scrubs provided if applicable.

Additional Notes

  • Preference given to candidates with general medical or surgical experience.
  • The unit uses EPIC charting system, and bedside RNs do not read telemetry strips; monitor techs operate from a central station.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
