Travel Interventional Radiology Technologist - $2,886 per week

American Traveler is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a 16-week travel assignment in Wilmington, North Carolina.

About the Role

This is a travel position at an acute care, Level I Trauma facility. The role requires 1–2 years of Interventional Radiology experience and prior travel experience. Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower rate.

• Shift: 4x10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
• Weekend requirement: 3–4 weekends per contract (call only on Saturday and Sunday)
• Call rotation: Weekdays after hours and weekends (Friday 5:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM), approximately two 24-hour call shifts per five-week period
• Orientation is weekly and tailored based on experience
• Approximately 8–10 hours of non-billable online modules must be completed prior to start and annually
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved, excluding holidays; no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Scrubs are provided
• Travel pairs are permitted; candidates must have their own transportation

Responsibilities

• Perform interventional body procedures (port, PleurX, gastrostomy tube, nephrostomy tube, and perm cath placements)
• Assist with embolizations for bleeding and fibroids, liver cancer treatment/SIRT, chemo embolization, and Level I trauma procedures (splenic, liver, and pelvic bleeds)
• Manage patient population including acute inpatient, ED emergent, and outpatient routine cases
• Scrub and maintain sterile field, serve as room circulator, prep access sites, and perform accurate monitoring
• Equipment setup and maintenance, supply stocking, and room circulation
• EKG lead placement (preferred)
• Use of fluoroscopy, Siemens single plane, GE Biplane, ultrasound, and patient monitoring systems
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and use of rapid response/code teams

Requirements

• Minimum of 1–2 years of Interventional Radiology experience
• Travel experience required
• ARRT (R) and BLS required; ARRT (VI) preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Proficiency in venous access including ports, non-tunneled/PICC lines, and central venous line care and maintenance
• Experience with IR procedures including angioplasty, embolization, stent placement, IVC filter placement, liver biopsy, mesenteric angiogram, chest tube placement, thoracentesis, gastrostomy tube placement, nephrostomy, cystoscopy, catheter/drain exchange, internal/external biliary drainage, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram, renal artery stent placement, and ureteral stent placement
• Experience with fluoroscopy and Siemens equipment required; GE Innova IGS, PACS, ultrasound, and CT experience preferred
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the past 2 years required (pending references acceptable)
• License required if applicable

Preferred Skills

• Recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
• TIPS procedures
• Vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)

Additional Information

• EMR system: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR
• Average daily census of 8 patients with approximately 2 visits per day
• Candidates who previously worked at this facility must wait 12 months before applying; prior employment must be disclosed

Pay

Pay package is based on 10-hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
