About the role

The healthcare professional opportunity is located in Wausau, Wisconsin, within an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This 13-week contract involves working in a short stay observation unit with a high patient turnover, focusing on patients with conditions such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre- and post-operative urology and gastrointestinal cases. The position requires float duties across inpatient units, a rotating shift schedule, and adherence to established clinical protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in an 8-bed observation unit specializing in short stay care (average length of stay up to 48 hours).
• Manage patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre- and post-op urology and GI procedures.
• Administer and monitor drips such as Cardiac Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin.
• Float to all inpatient units, including intermediate care and clinical transitional units.
• Read and interpret EKG strips; complete an EKG exam during compliance.
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 in a high-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges.

Requirements

• Wisconsin RN License.
• BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC) certifications.
• NIH Stroke Scale highly preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant RN experience.
• One previous travel assignment required.
• Experience with EPIC charting system.
• Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage change effectively.
• Strong social and collaborative skills.
