Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) - 26-Week Contract Assignment
Duration: This is a 26-week contract position designed to cover holiday shifts. Schedule: Part Time, Day/Night rotations (2 shifts of 12 hours) with additional on-call shifts every four weeks.
Job Description
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, prioritizes urgent or emergent care, collaborates with healthcare teams, and delivers direct care while evaluating patient progress. This role requires proficiency in various invasive and non-invasive procedures and the ability to manage both life-threatening and routine emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial assessment and triage of patients, ensuring timely and appropriate care.
- Document and identify deviations from normal health status and necessary interventions.
- Conduct secondary assessments using patient and family input, alongside data gathered from EMS reports.
- Address psychosocial needs of patients and their families, reporting any signs of domestic violence or abuse.
- Establish rapport with patients and families, providing comfort and regular updates on their care.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and educate on post-emergency care.
- Maintain awareness of the patient's status throughout their visit, ensuring ongoing communication with the care team.
- Adhere to infection prevention strategies to safeguard public health.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (must be AHA or RQI certified).
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital setting.
- At least one year of experience as an RN in an Emergency Department.
