Responsibilities

The role involves developing and preparing research protocols, preparing and submitting research grant applications, managing and reporting on research grants, and providing statistical analysis for ongoing research projects. Additional responsibilities include drafting research manuscripts, tables, and figures, preparing medical illustrations and diagrams, performing laboratory studies, and providing assistance with laboratory anatomical dissection and arterial cannulation in research specimens.

  • Develops and prepares research protocols (IRB, IACUC, etc.)
  • Prepares and submits research grant applications (OTA, AONA, etc.)
  • Manages and reports on research grants
  • Provides statistical analysis for ongoing research projects
  • Drafts research manuscript, tables, and figures
  • Prepares medical illustrations and diagrams for manuscripts, chapters, and presentations
  • Performs laboratory studies including biomechanical and vascular perfusion research
  • Provides assistance with laboratory anatomical dissection and arterial cannulation in research specimens
  • Provides set-up and basic operation of 3.0-T General Electric MRI scanner for vascular research studies
  • Performs region of interest quantitative-MRI analysis to assess vascular tissue perfusion
  • Assists with tissue preparation and cataloging for histology, sectioning, SEM coating, etc.
  • Provides generation of research activity reports for research meetings and presentations
  • Coordinates OTS research meetings and provide updates on active OTS projects
  • Provides coordination and assistance with resident/fellow BioSkills Education Laboratory surgical skills sessions
  • Provides coordination of OTS resident education conference presentations
  • Provides assistance with OTS academic schedule and oversight
  • Schedules and coordinates multidisciplinary conferences
  • Updates conference topic list and archives service presentations

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred. ACRP, SOCRA, or similar certification is also preferred. The candidate should have 3-5 years of clinical research experience, with statistical analysis experience and familiarity with data capture platforms such as RedCap and EMRs (Epic) being a plus.

Skills

The candidate should have proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Word, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills. The ability to multitask and knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, Human Subjects research regulations, and HIPAA compliance are also required.

Working Conditions

The role involves sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about the department and traverse the hospital campus. The work environment is located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise.
