Trauma Program Manager

About the role

The Trauma Program Manager collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director and hospital leadership to assure optimal trauma patient care services, quality outcomes, and compliance with local, state, and national standards for Trauma Center designation. This role continually strives to achieve successful outcomes for all care and programs associated with the trauma service, serving as the operational director for all internal/external program initiatives and hospital, regional, and state requirements. The Trauma Program Manager is closely involved with administrative operations, financial support, clinical services, educational activities, outreach initiatives, and research activities of the Trauma Center. This position maintains responsibility and accountability for 24-hour/7-day management.

Responsibilities

• Develop standards of performance, evaluation, and supervision of the Trauma Center’s clinical support staff.
• Monitor clinical processes, outcomes, and system issues related to the quality of care provided.
• Develop quality filters, audits, and case reviews to identify trends and events.
• Act as an agent for the Trauma Medical Director to assure compliance with regional, state, and national trauma statutes and regulations.
• Coordinate efforts between local and regional trauma systems.
• Manage the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the trauma program.
• Represent the trauma program on various hospital, local, state, and national committees to enhance and foster optimal care management.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 3 years of recent hospital nursing experience in Critical Care or Emergency nursing required.
• Must have recent experience and proficiency with computer databases, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
• Employee completes initial/ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility, and department/unit specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Qualifications

• Required: Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.
• Required: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).
• Required: Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Required: Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and current BLS.
• Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
• Preferred: Experience in quality/performance improvement.
• Preferred: Experience in project management.
• Preferred: TNCC Instructor.
