Trauma Analyst (Non-Exempt)

About the role

Coworker will be primarily responsible for maintaining Trauma Registry in compliance with the National Data Dictionary definitions. This involves data collection, accurate recording and analyzing of Trauma/Burn patients that meet criteria for inclusion utilizing computerized registry software. Data will come from a variety of sources to complete required data elements. Performs duties in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the American Trauma Society (ATS) registrar course and Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) injury scale coding course within three years of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data abstraction for a patient registry preferred
  • Experience or education in information technology
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC) preferred
  • Associate degree in health information or related field
  • ICD-10-CM and CPT coding education
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Knowledge of AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale) and ISS (Injury Severity Score) beneficial
  • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) and Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) within three years of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer software programs including Microsoft Office, database management, and report-writing
  • Knowledge of registry maintenance and regulations associated with trauma registry
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Knowledge of data abstraction techniques
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members
