About the role
DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our team in the Raleigh/Kinston, NC area. While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project.
Transportation Technicians perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

Responsibilities
- Daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts
- Project field book preparation and documentation
- Density log book preparation and documentation
- Material sampling and testing
- Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package
- Measuring distances to verify accuracy of construction activity/layout dimensions
- Verifying levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations
- Observing work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to specifications
- Obtaining and preparing material samples for laboratory testing
- Examining workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards
- Recording quantities of materials received or used during specified periods
- Maintaining daily log of construction and inspection activities
- Preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the project
- Assisting Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator with specific tasks
Requirements
- High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which must be in roadway or bridge construction inspection
- OR AAS in Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience, with at least one (1+) year in roadway construction inspection
- Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history
- Completion of the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submission of the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects)
- Minimum of 40 hours per week with possibility of overtime (hourly)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
