Transportation Technicians/CEI Bridge Inspectors (All Levels)

About the role

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) for the Raleigh area. While you'll be assigned to a home office, most positions report directly to the field/project. The Transportation Technician performs highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, makes and checks engineering computations, inspects construction work, and conducts field tests.

Responsibilities

• A daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.
• Project field book preparation and documentation.
• Density log book preparation and documentation.
• Material sampling and testing.
• Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package.
• Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.
• Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
• Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
• Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.
• Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation.
• Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
• Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities.

Requirements

• High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
• AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
• Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed to perform your assigned task.
