TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR (CALTRANS)
Multiple positions available in Orange County. Hybrid telework schedule. Permanent, full-time role.
About the Role
Under the general direction of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, the incumbent will perform a wide variety of difficult and complex land surveying work in the Right of Way Engineering Office. As experience progresses, more difficult assignments will be given.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Right of Way Engineering documents, court exhibits, deeds, and legal descriptions.
- Perform technical studies and review and interpret field notes.
- Conduct other survey-related work as required.
Requirements
- Valid Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certificate, or equivalent certificate accepted by the California State Board of Registration, or graduation from a four-year curriculum in surveying, surveying engineering, or surveying geomatics accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (required for ranges A-C).
- Valid Professional Land Surveyor license issued by the California State Board of Registration (required for range D).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license when operating a State-owned or leased vehicle.
- Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR (CALTRANS) exam. New candidates must be on the state examination list to be eligible.
Qualifications
Submit a 1-2 page Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) addressing your experience and education as it relates to this position. The SOQ must be typed, in 12-point Arial font, and follow the instructions provided. Resumes and cover letters will not substitute for the SOQ.
- If basing eligibility on education, include unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification. Official or sealed transcripts may be required upon appointment.
- Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency evaluation report from a NACES or AICE approved agency.
Pay
- Range A: $6,332.00 - $7,922.00 per month
- Range B: $7,428.00 - $9,296.00 per month
- Range C: $8,896.00 - $11,131.00 per month
- Range D: $9,712.00 - $12,152.00 per month
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
