About the Role

Under the direction of a Transportation Surveyor Party Chief, incumbents perform a wide variety of land surveying work commensurate with their level of training and experience in a field setting. The incumbent serves as a member of a field survey crew and performs surveying work for Caltrans, typically along the state highway system.

Classification and Pay

  • Classification: TRANSPORTATION SURVEYOR (CALTRANS)
  • Pay Ranges:
    • Range A: $6,332.00 - $7,922.00
    • Range B: $7,428.00 - $9,296.00
    • Range C: $8,896.00 - $11,131.00
    • Range D: $9,712.00 - $12,152.00
  • New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Special Requirements

  • Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Land Surveying License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, this is not required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
  • If basing eligibility on education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification. Unofficial, original, or official sealed transcripts will be accepted and may be required upon appointment.
