Transportation Supervisor

Essential duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage databases that detail transport activities, finances, employee schedules, and personnel records
  • Maintain updated records such as driver information, driver logs, and customers and sales complaints
  • Provide leadership to build strong relationships with professional drivers
  • Submit weekly/monthly fuel reports as needed for tractor and trailer to leasing company
  • Coordinate with sales staff requirement for special deliveries
  • Act as mediator between sales, drivers, and customers resolving delivery problems
  • Immediately address any discrepancy reports from accounting to the designated driver
  • Issue and review driver vehicle pre- and post-trip inspection reports on a daily basis for audit purposes
  • Provide vehicle inspection reports to the warehouse manager, highlighting any mechanical or safety issues
  • Issue and review driver’s daily log book records for those drivers who travel 150 miles or more from the Atlanta home base
  • Assign routes to drivers and check their routes, considering driver input and external requirements
  • Handle all driver phone calls and delivery issues
  • Routinely route trucks in the most efficient and economical manner, taking into account geographical considerations
  • Daily multiple communication with the warehouse manager and drivers is required
  • Be available 100% of the time on the phone
  • Adhere to a daily schedule at the discretion of the warehouse manager

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 2+ years of transportation, logistics, or equivalent work experience, 2+ years of experience in an operational transportation or similar industry role desired
  • CDL Class A license is a plus
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations strongly desired
  • Working knowledge of AS400 systems is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional leadership skills and directing abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational capabilities
  • Must understand safety and legal procedures for handling goods
