Transportation Regional Manager
Tetra Tech is seeking a Transportation Regional Manager to join our Transportation team in Austin, TX. As a leader in engineering and consulting, we drive positive change by solving complex challenges in water, environment, energy, and international development.
About the role
We are seeking an accomplished Seller-Doer to deliver high-quality outcomes and strengthen client relationships while contributing to the growth of our practice. This role involves supervising design teams, managing project workloads, budgets, schedules, and financial performance, and ensuring quality execution aligned with contract requirements and company standards.
You will lead the transportation group in achieving annual business plan goals for business development and operational metrics, including sales, utilization, revenue, profitability, and invoicing. Responsibilities also include developing the annual business plan, overseeing project progress, and participating in client business development activities such as strategic capture planning, proposal preparation, and client presentations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide the design team to ensure project execution meets quality and contract requirements.
- Manage project workloads, budgets, schedules, profits, accounts receivable, and invoicing.
- Monitor progress and performance of projects and team members.
- Lead the transportation group in achieving annual business plan goals for sales, utilization, revenue, profitability, and invoicing.
- Develop and implement the annual business plan for the group.
- Oversee project activities and ensure adherence to company standards and quality management processes.
- Participate in client business development, including developing capture plans, marketing materials, and presentations.
- Set up meetings and deliver presentations to prospective clients.
- Oversee or prepare technical proposals and cost estimates.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including coordination with subconsultants.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 15+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency in OpenRoads, GEOPAK, and MicroStation highly desired.
- TxDOT experience preferred with appropriate pre-certifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in project reviews and quality control.
- Experience managing project teams and subconsultants for transportation design of highways and roadways.
- Strong marketing, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Experience in opportunity pursuits, proposal development, and public relations in Texas.
