Transportation Operations Technician II
About the role
The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operations Technician II. This position is responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, including repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. In the winter months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting, and overtime may be required. Additionally, this position may assist in vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Requirements
- One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor, including either one season of operating a snowplow with wings or six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
- Upon successful completion of original probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I and possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.

Pay
The full salary range for this position is provided, but new hires are typically made at the salary range minimum. As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 20 will be $23.75 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $36.88 per hour.
Schedule
Considerable overtime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and is considered a condition of employment.
