About the role

The Operations Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations, monitors performance standards, ensures compliance with regulations, and manages staff training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor daily routes to ensure on-time performance and address any delays or interruptions.
  • Communicate service changes to contractors and staff.
  • Manage liaison with contractors to handle service area issues.
  • Assist with safety and training programs.
  • Affirm compliance with federal, state, and local safety and security regulations.
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture and ensure departmental safety performance targets are met.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints, escalating when necessary.
  • Monitor reservationist calls to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Assign tasks, provide training, and guide staff to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Coordinate enrollment in training courses and seminars for operations staff.
  • Review and approve time off requests, timesheets, and employee performance appraisals.
  • Investigate, prepare, and conduct counseling, disciplinary, and/or termination actions.
  • Recommend new hires, transfers, promotions, and salary increases.
  • Participate in emergency management activities during disasters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Bachelor’s/Associate’s Degree in related field with 2 years transportation-related experience preferred.
  • 4 years job-related experience.
  • Proven proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Strong math and/or accounting skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective management and interpersonal skills, including dealing with the public, employees, and elected officials.
  • Preferred English/Spanish speaking ability.
