About the role

We are looking for an energetic and highly organized individual to join our team as an Office Administrator. In this role, you will provide general administrative and clerical support, including computer tasks, customer service, and shipping and receiving. You must be able to learn the operations of the scale and work independently while managing multiple projects. This position may require intermittent outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and strict adherence to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general office administrative duties, including answering telephones, processing paperwork, preparing and sending mail/packages, and ordering office supplies.
  • Cross-train in all clerical duties and learn to operate the truck scale to efficiently weigh inbound and outbound trucks and vehicles.
  • Enter and complete all required records and documentation of purchased scrap metal into the proper systems.
  • Calculate daily transactions using computerized programs and balance the cash drawer at the end of the day.
  • Generate invoices, itemize lists and tickets noting materials and amounts due, verify weights, prices, and extensions.
  • Greet all visitors and ensure they have the required PPE for facility tours/inspections.
  • Assist current and potential customers with questions regarding pricing, accepted materials, and customer account maintenance.
  • Process outbound Bills of Lading and other required documentation for drivers.
  • Assist with monthly closing reporting and inventory reconciliation as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Attendance is mandatory.
  • 2+ years of office assistant experience in a construction, industrial production yard, or similar industry; scrap metal experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn industry-specific software.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must pass a credit check, background check, physical exam, and drug screen.

Schedule

Monday through Friday with half-day Saturday.
