Transportation Generalist - Road Maintenance

About the role

The Transportation Generalist - Road Maintenance position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to road surface and roadway maintenance, snow and ice control, and other related activities. This position requires a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state.

Responsibilities

• Perform all activities required for roadside maintenance
• Perform all roadway surface maintenance activities
• Service and make minor repairs to operating equipment
• Provide traffic control
• Perform basic construction monitoring duties and basic inspection activities
• Other duties as required

Requirements

• Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state and obtain a valid Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of initial placement into the position and maintain it as a condition of employment.
• Must be immediately accessible to a phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, commercial landscaping, operating heavy equipment, or farm experience).
• Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience.
• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.

Skills

• Ability to operate heavy equipment and commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.

Pay

$25.19 - $31.60 / hourly; $52,596 - $65,980 / annually

Schedule

Day Shift: Monday - Thursday (Summer); Monday - Friday (Winter)
