About the role
The Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) is seeking a Transportation Engineer V to manage maintenance and engineering projects at BWI Thurgood Marshall and Martin State Airports. This position is an emergency essential role requiring availability during weather and operational emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Manage design, analysis, administration, review, coordination, budget development and execution of maintenance and engineering projects.
- Direct and manage engineering consultants and contractors for investigations, inspections, and evaluations of electrical, control, and metering systems.
- Assign projects to A/E consultants, contractors, and MAA staff based on priorities and schedules.
- Oversee the management and administration of electrical contracts, including airfield and terminal electrical maintenance, high voltage testing, airfield lighting control systems, and Square D, Power Logic Power Monitoring System service contracts.
- Participate in design, construction management, and commissioning of projects at BWI Marshall Airport and Martin State Airport.
Qualifications
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Five years' experience in professional engineering, preferably involving medium voltage power systems, substations, switchgears, low-voltage power distribution systems, power meters, emergency generators, and uninterrupted power supplies.
- Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a State with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
Notes
Additional work experience in professional engineering or technical engineering at the journey level or above may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a master's degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties requiring the operation of a motor vehicle.
