About the role
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated transportation engineer looking for career advancement, in our Crystal Lake, Chicago, Naperville, Mokena, or Bannockburn, IL offices. This position will primarily consist of design leadership and development of a variety of transportation projects for State, County, Tollway, and Local Agencies.
Responsibilities
- Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
- Manage/Complete IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
- Lead a variety of projects and study types including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
- Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
- Assist with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects is preferred but not required.
- Help prepare project-specific proposals, contract preparation, and teaming arrangements, and participate in project interviews.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Experience completing IDOT or Local Agency Phase II bid documents.
- Microstation/Open Roads Designer capabilities preferred with an understanding of IDOT workflow.
- Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s Illinois service areas (own transportation) and attend client and in office meetings as required.
- Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.

Compensation - The pay range for this role is $105,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
