About the role
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Transportation Engineer III in our Peoria, IL office.
Responsibilities
- Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
- Complete Federal Aid projects for a variety of clients.
- Lead a variety of projects and study types including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
- Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
- Affiliate with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects (preferred but not required).
- Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
- Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois (or ability to acquire within 6 mos.).
- 5+ years of relevant experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
- Knowledge of OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil 3D.
- Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
- Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Illinois or able to obtain licensure within six months.
- At least five years of relevant experience in municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
- Experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Ability to travel within Baxter & Woodman's service area.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
