Transportation Engineer III
Position Summary
As a Transportation Engineer 3, you will perform and support moderately complex engineering design tasks, contribute to project delivery, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You will apply sound engineering judgment, support project coordination, and begin guiding junior staff while continuing to grow technically and professionally.
Responsibilities
- Develop roadway, traffic, and transportation design plans using engineering software and CAD tools
- Prepare portions of plans, specifications, reports, and permit applications
- Conduct field investigations and support construction observation activities
- Analyze data and apply engineering principles to develop practical design solutions
- Collaborate with project managers on schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Support proposal development and assist with scopes of work
- Cookordinate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders on project tasks
- Provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to team development
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience, including internships
- Strong understanding of transportation or roadway design principles
- Experience with design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD
- Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and work within project budgets
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Preferred:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience with PennDOT, municipal, or state transportation projects
- Progression toward Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff
