Transportation Dispatcher (226 Days)

About the role

Coordinates and monitors transportation operations to ensure routes and trips are covered based on the trip bidding process.

Responsibilities

• Monitor field trips in the system and conduct trip bidding.
• Dispatch transportation vehicles for trips and special events.
• Distribute keys and radios to drivers.
• Answer phone and two-way radio calls; respond to routine requests or emergency situations.
• Communicate with outside organizations, local police, and others to address requests, questions, concerns, and suggestions; provide information or route to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain current knowledge of routes and school locations to ensure timely services and accurate information.
• Review bus routes and trips for efficiency and effectiveness; communicate recommendations to management.
• Verify clock times and payroll for drivers and monitors; ensure reports are completed for assigned drivers.
• Collect bus maintenance request forms from drivers.
• Assist in distributing and collecting route/bid or trip sheets; ensure student counts are completed.
• Review and apply transportation guidelines and procedures to ensure consistency in decisions and actions.
• Resolve conflicts consistently and appropriately.
• Foster positive relations with campuses, teachers, and parents.
• Serve as a role model for employees regarding proper attire, grooming standards, and positive attitude.
• Write correspondence and effectively present information.
• Analyze problems and offer multiple solutions as needed.
• Maintain and provide required reports to the transportation administration team.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements (required).
• One (1) year of experience as a dispatcher in a transportation or related field (required).
• Three (3) years of relevant experience (preferred).

Pay

Minimum salary: $49,612.00. Median salary: $60,514.00.
