Transportation Coordinator
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate outbound shipments by selecting appropriate transportation modes (Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Flatbed, Small Parcel) to balance cost efficiency and service levels
- Execute daily shipment scheduling, including load tendering and delivery appointment coordination to ensure on-time delivery performance
- Provide daily shipment plans to support distribution center labor planning, dock scheduling, and outbound flow
- Manage carrier communications, including tender acceptance and service follow-up to ensure reliable capacity
- Monitor shipment performance and provide end-of-day reporting and visibility
- Identify service gaps and cost-saving opportunities; support continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive reduction of accessorial costs, including minimizing TONU (Truck Ordered Not Used) charges and shipment cancellations through proactive planning, communication, and execution discipline
- Analyze root causes of TONUs and cancellations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Support urgent (“hot”) shipments and expedited requests to meet customer requirements
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics operations, with a solid understanding of shipping processes and workflows
- 1+ years of experience in Microsoft Office Suites
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (Preferred)
- Understanding of freight modes and transportation planning concepts
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and shipping compliance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
- Experience with systems such as TMS, SAP, Power BI, or other transportation/logistics tools
- Ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications

Benefits
The annual salary for this position is between $53,000.00 - $106,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
