Transportation Coordinator - 1st Shift

About the role

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for administering transportation in the Shipping Department. Daily activities include identifying consolidation opportunities, quoting, scheduling, documentation and addressing emails from carriers. Responsible for organizing and executing the work schedule for outbound shipments.

Responsibilities

• Administer transportation in the Shipping Department.
  • Identify consolidation opportunities.
  • Quote, schedule, document, and address emails from carriers.
  • Organize and execute work schedule for outbound shipments.
• Operate operations planning with a Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Correctly troubleshoot, investigate, resolve, and escalate issues with suggested resolution.
  • Maintain and generate required reports.
• Monitor carriers (Private Fleet, Dedicated Fleet, and Common Carriers) to ensure daily transportation operations run safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Coordinate activities with fulfillment team, the customer, and/or other suppliers as needed.
• Assist in the development, planning, and modification of daily schedules as appropriate; make notifications to customer service and the operations manager as to the status of shipments.
  • Track and trace activities to ensure optimal service.
• Accurately enter data into the transportation management system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on area supported.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school/GED from an accredited institution.
• Must have a minimum of one (1) year logistics, shipping and/or warehouse experience.
• Basic understanding of carrier capabilities.
• SAP and WMS experience is preferred.
