About the role

The incumbent is responsible for managing activities related to the company’s transportation programs in compliance with DOT regulations specific to the environmental waste industry. Develops and implements strategies to achieve and exceed company goals and expectations to reduce vehicle compliance violations. Acts as an advisor to internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations, company and local policies and procedures, and required documentation.
  • Provides instruction and training for new and current employees.
  • Maintains training and driver files to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and company policies.
  • Validates driver qualifications.
  • Tracks status and expiration of transportation-related permits.
  • Works with State regulatory agencies to renew permits and other DOT authorizations.
  • Investigates, reports, maintains, and cooperates with insurance adjustors regarding injury & collision claims.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, which may not be specifically listed but are within the general nature of the role.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of regulations specific to transportation in the environmental waste industry.
  • Understanding of management principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with current transportation practices, DOT regulations, and programs.
  • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment, and manage resources and expenditures.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.

Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Knowledge of transportation compliance is typically gained through 2 or more years of progressively responsible experience.
