Responsibilities

  • Ensure the close out and dispatch of all shipments through the Operations Team and directly.
  • Ensure all international shipments have international documents, including the collection of Shipper’s Export Declarations; file EEI when applicable.
  • Identify international shipments as a priority for all outbound shipping.
  • Create Hazmat documents and ensure proper labeling by all parties.
  • Daily review of carrier equipment needs and door assignments while engaging daily with all carriers.
  • Communicate with carriers for swaps and live loads.
  • Review all internal and external documentation requests for LTL/TL shipments, including carrier tracking or pro number updates as required.
  • Ensure all outbound cold chain orders have a printed packing list for scheduling the required carrier.
  • Ensure proper trailer temperature set points for all cold chain shipments; note required temperature on the bill of lading and/or manifest.
  • Reconcile open orders report with outbound/staged freight throughout the day with the Ops Team in the assigned building.
  • Manage any mode conversions.
  • Communicate with Transportation and Ops teams regarding staged freight, Express runs, and city runs.
  • Ensure operations correctly load onto every trailer through direct validation of load.
  • Manage communications where advanced shipment notice details are required.
  • Provide work group leadership and supervisory backup.
  • Direct, instruct, guide, and train staff.
  • Oversee loading of outbound trailers, including pallet count validation and proper chain-of-custody transfer.
  • Ensure the loading area is safe and carriers adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Ensure all internal and external shipping requests are acknowledged and addressed.
  • Ensure proper load securement and close-out of all trailers.
  • Effectively communicate with all internal departments, clients, and carriers to ensure proper handling of shipments.
  • Problem-solving and continuous process improvement related to loading functions, incorrect load plans, carrier failures, and exception management.
  • Communicate with carriers on exception management and with internal groups on failures and exceptions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Supply Chain or Finance).
  • Experience and/or Training: Background in operations and knowledge of the transportation industry; experience with Mercury Gate or any TMS as a user.
  • Licenses/Certificates: HAZMAT certification.
  • Technology/Equipment: Proficiency with TMS, auditing tools, reporting, analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite (medium level).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience and/or Training: Background in Transportation Finance and Audit.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Degree in Supply Chain or Finance; APICS CSCP certification.
  • Technology/Equipment: Microsoft Office Suite of Services, Power BI (User Level).

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Environment

The role requires frequent reaching, grasping, standing, and/or sitting for long periods (up to 90% of the shift), walking, talking, and hearing. Occasionally, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds is required. The work environment is typically moderately quiet with frequent interruptions and multiple demands.

Pay

This role is eligible for hire in select U.S. locations based on business and operational considerations. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). If this job posting includes a base salary range, it represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S.
