Transport Maint Crew Chief - Sterling City

About the role

The Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators performing skilled transportation maintenance activities. They report to a maintenance section supervisor and assist in the administration of the maintenance section.

Responsibilities

• Assists during accident and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs and organize response of crews.
• Affords assistance in administration of the maintenance section.
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments.
• Inspects roads while en route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors.
• Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets.
• Maintains materials testing and inventory of roadway maintenance materials.
• Operates light and heavy equipment.
• Oversees the work of designated maintenance inspectors and sign technicians.
• Performs some maintenance and repair on equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment.
• Serves as a lead worker by scheduling daily work assignments; serving as a resource for complex questions and troubleshooting of problems; presenting operational updates to the supervisor; providing input on team members' career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operational coverage.

Requirements

Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
• Experience: 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Must have a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of application. Must have or have obtained "N" (tanker) endorsement and remove any transmission restriction within 60 calendar days from date of employment.

$4,523.16 - $7,253.83 monthly
