Transport Maint Crew Chief (Midland)
About the role
The Odessa District Midland Maintenance Office is seeking a Crew Chief to lead a team of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators. The ideal candidate will combine experience and leadership skills with expertise in transportation maintenance to improve road conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assists in administration of the maintenance section.
- Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments.
- Inspects roads while on route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors.
- Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets.
- Performs some maintenance and repair on equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
- Experience: 5 years experience in roadway maintenance related work.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. A Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at the time of hire.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of methods, procedures, equipment, and materials used in intermodal transportation engineering construction and maintenance work.
- Considerable knowledge of incident management procedures, inventory/stock control procedures, and applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes.
- Expert skill in operating light and heavy highway equipment.
- Proficient skill in leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others, coordinating labor, materials, and equipment, and training in a classroom, office, or field environment.
- Expertise in maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others and maintaining a safe working environment.
