About the role
Instructional Designers at EPIC Tapestry and Compass Rose applications are responsible for developing curriculum, training plans, and teaching methods. They collaborate with the Epic Training Manager to develop and validate the training environment and test the production (live) environment. They also coordinate logistics related to training delivery, such as copying and assembling printed materials, setting up training rooms, and maintaining equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of curriculum, training plans, and teaching for EPIC Tapestry and Compass Rose applications.
- Participate in the development and validation of the training environment and the testing of the production (live) environment.
- Collaborate with the Epic Training Manager on input for training and training materials.
- Develop a skills assessment program for the Epic system.
- Coordinate logistics associated with training delivery preparation activities such as copying and assembling printed materials, set-up, maintenance of training rooms, equipment preparation, post-training, clean-up, etc.
- Communicate changes and enhancements of the Epic EHR to the end users.
- Independently lead ongoing training and act as the primary support of the EHR.
- Evaluate the results of the skills assessment and observations to review and revise training as needed.
- Provide employee education based on assessment of learning needs of the learner.
- Update client LMS for class attendance.
- Conduct training and assist the principal trainers during end user classes, on-going training, and upgrade/functionality enhancement training.
- Communicate changes and enhancements of the Epic EHR to the end users.
- Independently lead ongoing training and act as the primary support of the EHR.
- Utilize feedback from end user surveys to improve training.
- Aid in application support testing/training activities as directed, such as facilitating personalization labs for providers or other attendees.
Requirements
- Epic Experience: 8-10 Years
- Ability to effectively communicate in English both in writing and orally.
- Curriculum Development: Design, build, and maintain training materials (e.g., student handbooks, e-learning, and assessments) aligned with Epic Systems standards and adult learning principles.
- Collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate complex clinical workflows into simple, learner-centered educational content.
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot Epic's specific training environments (MST) so learners can practice in a simulated, error-free setting.
- Distribute, audit, and track learning progress using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Coordinate with clinical leaders, educators, and project managers to ensure training aligns with organizational goals and compliance standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in instructional design, experience with Epic systems, and excellent communication skills. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required.

Pay
The expected compensation for this role ranges from $80,000 to $158,000.
Schedule
This role is available on a hybrid schedule.
