About the Role

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, offering exciting career opportunities in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. This position supports the development of skills and competencies at the New Jersey sites through on-the-job training, skills evaluation, and development programs. It also assists with coordinating and documenting training programs while collaborating with production management, human resources, and safety to improve on-site learning and development (L&D). Additionally, the role contributes to the development and maintenance of the Michael Foods Execution System (MES) elements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, development, and oversight to on-the-job (OJT) trainers and subject matter experts (SME) across departments.
  • Build Train-the-Trainer capabilities within the training team.
  • Ensure input and accuracy of the SRMP training matrix.
  • Lead or Co-Lead SRMP Element(s).
  • Develop learning and development capabilities per MFI L&D Assessment.
  • Provide insight into the hiring process of new employees.
  • Coordinate external training resources.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new, entry-level, and transferred employees on equipment operation, processes, Standard Work Instructions, and work practices.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department to ensure consistent implementation of new hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Support Supervisors on the Employee Training Qualification Program, including skills and competency assessments, training, and validation of trainee performance.
  • Develop, train, and sustain MES elements such as Management Operating System (MOS), Centerlines, Clean-Inspect-Lubricate, Line Walks, Root Cause Analysis, and 5S.
  • Assist in developing Standard Work Instructions, checklists, and visual aids.
  • Source training materials from vendors and other plants, compiling a training databank and library.
  • Maintain files of training materials and logs of all training conducted, including benchmark strengths, new employee onboarding, and day-to-day training requirements.
  • Attend training seminars, some requiring out-of-town or overnight arrangements.
  • Work on any shift as needed to meet operational teams’ training needs.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality. Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Extensive work experience and knowledge of all equipment in the area of support, including best operating practices, principles of operation, operational parameters, fault finding, and corrective action.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish and English (both verbal and written) is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations and respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors.
  • Mathematical skills to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including day and night shifts, and alternate between shifts to meet training needs.
  • Ability to multi-task, work with diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word).
  • Strong customer service capabilities.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $59,933 - $81,509 per year.
