About the Role
Amtrak Train Attendants ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant journey for coach and sleeping car passengers. The role involves maintaining cleanliness, assisting passengers, and providing first-class amenities in sleeping cars. Attendants must be willing to assist elderly and disabled passengers, handle baggage, and maintain inventory of supplies.
Responsibilities
- Keep assigned coaches clean for the duration of the trip, including restroom maintenance.
- Provide first-class amenities in sleeping cars, make beds, change linen, and maintain restroom and shower cleanliness.
- Assist passengers boarding and detraining, including handling baggage.
- Load and unload supplies, maintaining an inventory of supplies.
- Perform dining car service and side work as directed by the Lead Service Attendant.
- Provide a quality dining car experience in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
- Wear company-provided uniform and comply with grooming policies.
Requirements
- Food and beverage handling experience.
- Cash handling and customer contact experience.
- Some housekeeping experience.
- Must be at least 21 years of age upon completion of classroom training (due to service of alcoholic beverages).
- Successfully complete drug screening and pre-employment medical exam.
- Must be able to lift heavy items and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and up to eight days away from home crew base.
- Demonstrate a friendly, outgoing, and courteous disposition.
- High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college, food service industry, or transportation-related training.
Pay
The hourly wage is $21.00, with opportunities for increases as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement after beginning employment.
