Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ski and snowboard in a professional manner, maintaining speed and control and setting an example for employees and guests.
- Engage in educational and enforcement conversations with employees and guests.
- Occasionally present skier education classes to guests and employees.
- Work with Ski Patrol, Risk Manager, Security and Guest Services.
- Write reports on ski safety violations.
- Communicate via two-way radios.
- Must be able to ski or snowboard with proficiency.
- Diffuse confrontations with guests and employees.
- Interview witnesses and record witness statements.
- Provide a guest experience that exceeds the guest’s expectations.
- Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives.
- Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.
- Aid Ski Patrol with Scene management and traffic control.
- Open and Close trails when requested by Patrol.
- Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.
Qualifications
- Must be able to ski or ride on groomed advanced terrain.
- Knowledge of the Skier responsibility code prefered.
- Experience in customer service field prefered.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Basic math skills preferred.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with guests.
- Interactions with guests may require education and de-escalation skills.
- Properly communicate with guests.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
- Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear.
- Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally sit.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Exposure to outside weather conditions and extreme cold.
- Noise level in the work environment is often loud.
Pay and Benefits
The pay rate for this position is $19.50/hr. Benefits include paid sick leave, ski pass, dependent passes (for full time commitment), discounted lift tickets, lift tickets at other CO resorts, discounted employee shuttles and discounted meals and lodging, and ski school discounts.
