About the role
The purpose of this classification is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic control devices and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and maintains traffic control devices to ensure proper operation; performs preventative maintenance activity; troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment; and tests and programs control cabinets.
- Responds to traffic control device outage calls; completes verbal and written status reports; and completes work orders and requests for maintenance.
- Drives and maintains work site trucks; performs pre-trip vehicle inspection; and checks fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Maintains reference material library; collects schematic diagrams and technical manuals for traffic control equipment; maintains equipment log and supply list; and updates knowledge base on new and existing technologies.
- Conducts simulations in shop to test traffic control equipment; and tests new and repaired equipment to ensure proper operation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years of experience maintaining and repairing traffic signals; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License, including appropriate endorsements.
