About the role

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Monitoring Specialist / Dispatcher / Call Center to be based in Detroit, MI. This position is for an overnight shift (9pm - 5am) with weekends and some holiday hours required. The role is based out of a client location near downtown Detroit, MI.

You will update and respond to scheduled and unscheduled traffic events and congestion using devices such as closed-circuit camera TV systems, detectors, and more. Acting like an emergency dispatcher within a call center environment, you will dispatch responders via a two-way radio system to assist motorists, respond to events, and handle other activities requiring timely and efficient responses. Additional responsibilities include performing data entry, working fluently in multiple PC applications simultaneously, and demonstrating exceptional organizational and communication skills to prioritize tasks in real-time and potentially serious situations.

This is a 24/7/365 environment where you will work under direct supervision, performing moderately complex technical work utilizing instructions, examples, and results from computer systems. Critical thinking and decision-making based on circumstances are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Update and respond to scheduled and unscheduled traffic events and congestion using CCTV systems, detectors, and other devices.
  • Act as an emergency dispatcher in a call center environment, dispatching responders via two-way radio to assist motorists and respond to events.
  • Perform data entry functions.
  • Work fluently in multiple PC applications simultaneously.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks in real-time, including in potentially serious situations.
  • Receive, document, and relay information from numerous sources with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Perform critical thinking and make decisions based on circumstances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (no experience required).
  • Background and drug/alcohol screening required.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 operation, including outside of standard business hours, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Preferred:
  • 2 or more years of experience in surveillance and/or CCTV monitoring.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Customer/client relationship experience.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Pay

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $20 to $22 per hour.
