Traffic EIT
About the role
Join our New York team of highway design professionals and contribute to creating more connected, sustainable communities with impactful traffic solutions. Your expertise will be essential for all aspects of traffic engineering, including corridor studies, intersection capacity analysis, traffic simulation, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT/MOT), transportation impact analysis, pedestrian and transit studies, traffic signal design, crash analysis, signing and marking plans, and other traffic engineering work associated with roadway and bridge projects.
You’ll generate reports for projects with multiple clients, including DOTs throughout New York. We’ll support your career growth by providing opportunities to mentor less experienced teammates and work directly with clients, empowering you to innovate and think beyond conventional solutions.
Responsibilities
- Perform corridor studies and intersection capacity analysis.
- Conduct traffic simulation using software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, or CORSIM.
- Develop Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT/MOT) plans.
- Complete transportation impact analysis and pedestrian/transit studies.
- Design traffic signals, signing, and marking plans.
- Perform crash analysis for roadway and bridge projects.
- Generate reports for projects involving multiple clients, including DOTs.
- Mentor less experienced team members.
- Collaborate directly with clients to deliver innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
- Substantial post-graduate professional experience in traffic engineering.
- Proficiency with traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, CORSIM, HCS).
- Experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD (Civil 3D), MicroStation, OpenRoads-SS4) and its application in roadway, highway, intersection, and interchange design.
- EIT certification (preferred).

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $110,000.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
