Traffic EIT

About the role

We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic Engineer Intern (EIT) to support our Gulf Region located in Brentwood/Nashville, Knoxville, or Chattanooga, TN. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Tennessee if out of state.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the preparation of technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies
• Contribute to the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing
• Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans
• Participate in traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
• Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
• Prepare roadway design plans
• Attend project meetings with clients
• Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics
• Potential to learn and participate in business development activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) Certification preferred
• 2 - 4 years of experience in transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, local programs, public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations
• Familiarity with DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO
• Familiarity with traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer
• Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
• Effective communicator, both orally and in writing
• Willingness and motivation to curate and develop a personal client base

Qualifications

• Pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
• Valid driver’s license
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
