Traffic Coordinator
Position Summary
The Traffic Coordinator plays a pivotal role in optimizing logistical operations by planning, routing, and executing daily transportation schedules. This position is responsible for reviewing sales orders for accuracy, maximizing equipment utilization, and designing efficient delivery routes that meet customer expectations while remaining compliant with transportation policies. Acting as a central hub for communication, the Traffic Coordinator collaborates closely with internal load planning teams and external carriers to secure capacity and proactively resolve transit issues.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance Support compliance with transportation policies and procedures.
- Review entered orders to ensure delivery feasibility and safety parameters.
- Monitor adherence to shipping plans to mitigate execution risks.
- Cook Delivery & Customer Excellence Coordinate transportation plans to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Communicate customer delivery requirements and special instructions clearly.
- Lead communication with load planning teams and transportation carriers.
- Address execution issues as they arise to prevent delivery delays.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement Develop shipping plans to maximize equipment utilization and route efficiency.
- Ensure proper load fitment and efficient routing based on order requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and service levels.
- Analyze routing and capacity constraints to optimize daily workflows.
- Quality & Inventory Management Review entered orders to ensure accuracy and correct shipping methods.
- Maintain high attention to detail and follow-through across all logistics planning.
- Monitor ongoing adherence to planned loads and route specifications.
- Business Partnership Collaborate closely with load planning teams to align transportation schedules.
- Partner with external transportation carriers to negotiate and secure capacity.
- Act as the central communication link between customer requirements and execution teams.
Required Education and/or Experience
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Core Skills: Sharp organizational and planning abilities. Detail Orientation: High level of attention to detail and consistent operational follow-through.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in traffic, logistics, or transportation coordination.
- Solid understanding of transportation and logistics operations.
- Experience analyzing routing challenges and equipment capacity constraints.
- Proven tracking of effective carrier communication and negotiation skills.
