Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) in coordination with project teams, engineers, and municipal agencies.
- Cook up and maintain traffic control devices like signs, barricades, cones, and flaggers.
- Keep an eye out for traffic hazards and come up with ways to fix them.
- Work with other contractors, city officials, and utility companies to organize road closures and detours.
- Get and keep the right paperwork for road closures and traffic control plans.
- Handle traffic emergencies and tweak control measures to keep everyone safe.
- Train and guide flaggers and others on how to do traffic control right.
- Keep track of traffic control operations, incidents, and changes to TMPs.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in traffic control or construction site coordination, preferably in heavy civil infrastructure (roads, bridges, highways, utilities).
- Certification in Traffic Control (e.g., ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of traffic control regulations, safety standards, and work zone safety practices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to read and interpret construction plans, maps, and technical documents.
- Proficiency in using TMP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Invarion RapidPlan) is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
