Traffic Control Center Operator

About the role

We are currently seeking a Traffic Control Center Operator to support Florida's Turnpike Enterprise in Pompano Beach, Florida. This role is ideal for someone looking to start or grow a career in customer service, call center operations, dispatch, or real-time transportation operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor traffic conditions using cameras, software systems, and communication tools.
• Receive and respond to phone calls regarding roadway conditions, incidents, and requests for Road Ranger assistance.
• Enter and update information in computer systems accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicate with emergency responders, maintenance personnel, and internal teams to support roadway operations.
• Provide timely traveler information through electronic message boards, websites, and other communication systems.
• Dispatch and monitor Road Ranger Safety Patrol operators.
• Track incidents and document activities using established procedures.
• Identify and report equipment issues and maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate records and shift reports.
• Participate in team meetings and ongoing training programs.
• Support a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in customer service, call center operations, dispatch, retail, hospitality, public safety, or another fast-paced environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with two-way radio systems or communication equipment.
• Ability to gather information from multiple sources and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operation.
