About the role
An experienced accountant to perform trading desk accounting processes, monthly close, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical skills, and proven accounting ability. Role will report directly to the Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly economic to accounting Profit & Loss statement reconciliations
- Account for commodity trading transactions (purchases, sales, costs)
- Validate AR/AP balances for assigned trade desks/commodities
- Ensure accuracy and consistency with trading system data
- Liaise with Front/Middle Office and Operations to ensure accuracy, and consistency of reported figures
- Review balance sheet, cash movements, and working capital for assigned desks
- Quarterly / Year-end Participate in Quarter End reporting activities
- Compile pertinent data for management reporting and financial statements
- Participate in Year End audit and financial statement preparation, as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
- Strong working knowledge of financial accounting
- Understanding of commodity trading business
- Self-motivated, results oriented, and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel
- Able to independently research and analyses; discuss conclusions with senior management
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Team oriented with willingness to train colleagues

Pay
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year
