About the Role

The Trade Program Accountant evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of trade-related programs, operations, and management functions. This role involves conducting assessments, analyzing trade data, supporting policy development, and ensuring compliance with trade regulations. The analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance trade performance and align strategies with organizational goals.

Key responsibilities include maintaining the trade promotion management (TPM) software, entering promotional plans as provided by the sales team, monitoring spending alignment with budgets, and analyzing complex data sets to deliver insights that support product pricing, promotions, and sales objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the company’s trade program management system and utilize TPM software to track and analyze trade program data.
  • Manage TPM system inputs, including loading plan-level sales targets, trade rates, and National Promotion Calendars.
  • Oversee system reconfigurations, planning mode changes, and access requests/role permissions.
  • Provide functional and technical support to the sales team and other users on TPM software.
  • Review and approve customer trade promotions, ensuring accuracy of deals, communications, and advertising vehicles.
  • Support the development of Revenue Operations enablers (data, system, process, and capabilities) to optimize revenue growth.
  • Modify existing hierarchies to align with planning structures and socialize updates.
  • Review and implement strategic pricing initiatives to support profitability, consumer engagement, and market share growth.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance teams on the annual bottoms-up sales forecast and monthly forecast updates to ensure accurate volume and net revenue plans.
  • Support post-promotion analysis for future plan optimization and learnings.
  • Maintain records of promotions to support accurate cost accruals and timely clearance of customer billbacks and deductions.
  • Prepare reports on trade promotion results, including planning, financial modeling, and post-promotion effectiveness.
  • Assist with customer-level annual planning and new distribution/slotting management projections for the annual operating plan.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve data entry and management processes within TPM.
  • Stay updated on TPM system updates and best practices; provide training to team members as necessary.
  • Perform special projects, including revenue and expense analysis, as requested by finance and other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in trade analysis, program evaluation, or a related role.
  • Experience with SAP and Trade Program Management software(s).
  • Basic understanding of product distribution in the CPG industry.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Fluency in English.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Ability to participate in virtual or in-person meetings across time zones.
  • May require occasional standing or walking during presentations or site visits.
