Trade Accountant

Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Trade Accounting: Reconcile trading activity, profit and loss reporting, and related financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze gross margin, mark-to-market activity, inventory balances, trade accruals, and other key financial metrics.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies impacting financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting: Assist with consolidated financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and external financial statement preparation.
• Audit & Controls: Support external audits, maintain internal controls, and help ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Business Partnership: Collaborate with traders, management, and operational teams to evaluate transactions, support reporting needs, and provide financial insights.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Experience: 2–4 years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or trade accounting within commodities, brokerage, hedge fund, or related financial services environments is required.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience supporting trading operations, inventory accounting, mark-to-market reporting, or financial products is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, trading platforms, or financial reporting tools are preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams are required.
