About the role
This position reports to a Preventive Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, servicing, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment in assigned academic buildings. The role also involves troubleshooting and repairing any mechanical or electrical failures, responding to trouble calls to shut down equipment and make repairs safely, and inspecting buildings for safety hazards and making necessary repairs.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair any mechanical or electrical failures
- Respond to trouble calls to shut down equipment and make repairs in a safe manner
- Inspect buildings for safety hazards and repair as needed
- Designate as Emergency Personnel, requiring employees to report to work during emergency situations and closings
Requirements
- Current Virginia Journey or Master Level license in electrical, plumbing trade, or HVAC trades
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience at the journey level, in electrical and mechanical trades in an industrial, commercial, or institutional trades environment
- Working knowledge of blueprints, technical drawings, and/or sketches
- Recordkeeping experience
- Ability to learn and use the computerized Facilities work order system to enter time, obtain, create, and edit work orders, and request materials
- Excellent communication skills; ability to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
- Good team work skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a large commercial or educational setting
- Experience with an online work order management system
- Previous lead worker and/or supervisory experience
Pay
$66,050 per year
