Trades Generalist - Carpentry (Grade 12)
Job Description
Facilities at Farmingdale State College seeks to fill a Trades Generalist vacancy. A Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities. May be required to perform the activities and tasks of specialized trades beyond Carpentry: Electrician, Painter, Motor Equipment, Plumber & Steamfitter, Sign Fabrication, Mason & Plasterer.
Responsibilities
- Performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- May supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities.
- May be required to perform the activities and tasks of specialized trades beyond Carpentry: Electrician, Painter, Motor Equipment, Plumber & Steamfitter, Sign Fabrication, Mason & Plasterer.
- Supervises a subordinate maintenance staff by making assignments, giving instructions, and observing and inspecting work performed to ensure that instructions have been followed and that the quality of the work is satisfactory.
- Operates a motor vehicle to transport material, equipment and personnel to job sites around campus.
Requirements
- Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
- Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.

$50,425 + $4,000 location pay = $54,425
