Track Construction Specialist
About the role
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a technical lead for Track Construction Specialist for the New York City region. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all construction Right-of-Way activities, including railroad track, civil, and structural elements, throughout the design and construction phases of major transportation infrastructure projects.
- Ensure the quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by Contractor.
- Exercise sound judgment and take timely action to remove obstacles, resolve issues, and maintain momentum toward on-schedule project completion.
- Identify and correct design and construction deficiencies early in the process to prevent rework, reduce risk, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Review daily field inspector reports to verify compliance with contractual requirements and ensure accuracy for commercial documentation.
- Proactively monitor construction progress, identify performance issues, and collaborate with contractors and stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
- Make decisions on phasing and scheduling projects.
- Prepare and/or direct preparation of schedules for planning and construction.
- Maintain schedules and take appropriate actions to ensure that project is completed on schedule.
- Review design and work plans for compliance with contract, and provide input on constructability concerns and improvement.
- Assess design and work plans for adherence to contract obligations, offering expert guidance on constructability risks, opportunities, and improvement strategies.
- Work with Quality team on identifying issues and monitoring close out of quality items and documentation.
- Avoidance of close out of commissioning and acceptance documentation to ensure acceptance from stakeholders prior to entry into service and final acceptance.
- Work with the contractor and other Project Management Team members regarding change orders, interpretation of contract documents, shop drawing submittals/approvals and other technical matters as required to enforce compliance with project contract documents, codes, policies and procedures.
- Develop or review construction cost estimates.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
- 10 years’ experience in Rail Construction
- Good written and verbal communications skills and understanding of the English language
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification

Pay
Expected Salary (all locations): $97,100 - $198,200
Schedule
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
