Overview
VHB is seeking a Track Engineer/Designer to join their Transit & Rail Engineering team. This position offers opportunities to work on complex transit and rail infrastructure projects and contribute to the growth of the team.
Responsibilities
- Producing and delivering transit and rail projects from concept through design and into construction phase services
- Performing civil design on various rail projects including track structure and drainage, alignment geometry, grade crossings, stations, and layover facilities
- Managing the development of technical specifications and construction contract documents
- Aiding in the development of construction cost estimates
- Preparing written technical documents including design narratives, summarizing information collected by others, and assembling reports
- Participating in industry organizations such as ACEC, AREMA, and APTA
Skills and Attributes
- Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in transit and rail engineering
- Skilled in technical design; experience with AutoCAD Civil3D and MicroStation (preferably OpenRail or OpenRoads)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team-oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently and delegate tasks to junior staff
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-8 years of transit and rail engineering experience
- BS in Civil Engineering or MS preferred (an engineering Masters degree can be substituted for 2 years of experience)
- PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
Pay
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston, MA is $100,000-120,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
