Job Description
TPS Applications Technician (Mixing, Molding, Bonding & Spraying)
Under the direction of program supervision or higher graded employees, perform assigned tasks in multiple operations as specified in respective manufacturing process plans related to the formulating, compounding, bonding, packaging, and processing of numerous insulative/ablative materials.
Principal Duties
- Perform and/or assisting higher graded employees with operations in the manufacturing, processing, and application of various thermal protection coatings working from process plans, manufacturing procedures, and/or engineering drawings and other pertinent data.
- Perform duties of material processing and application includes the bonding, assembly, testing, and packaging of numerous ablative products.
- Duties in material formulation and compounding include the compounding of hazardous ablative materials in various mixers.
- Perform weighing and transportation operations of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials used in the formulations of end products.
- Operate multiple types of manufacturing mixing equipment such as planetary, conical and high shear mixers used in the compounding of products.
- Perform application of manufactured products through spray or molding processes.
- Perform and/or assisting higher graded employees in testing of products to verify property conformance to established requirements.
- Record all pertinent data on applicable documents to maintain total traceability of materials and test results.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge in the procedures to safely dispense and handle chemicals with materials that contain hazardous and/or combustible components.
- Knowledge in the safe operations of manufacturing equipment such as planetary, conical, and high shear mixers.
- Knowledge in the operations of various spray, molding and testing equipment used to process and apply coatings products.
- Knowledge of proper use of personnel protective equipment to handle chemicals with materials that contain hazardous and /or combustible components.
- Ability to interpret sequenced plans of operations and work from manufacturing and/or engineering documents such as process plans/specifications, manufacturing procedures, engineering drawings, etc..
